Quiet Before the Day

She gets up while it is still night; she provides food for her family and portions for her female servants.

 — Proverbs 31:15

There is something intentional about this kind of woman.

She doesn’t wait for the day to tell her what to do because she prepares before it ever begins.

This quiet time isn’t just about productivity.

It’s also about posture.

Before she pours out, she makes sure she’s been filled.

And that starts in her quiet place.

There is a sacredness in meeting with the Father before the noise, before the needs, before anything else has a voice.

It’s in that place that we are anchored, aligned, and reminded of what we’re carrying.

What we consume (through our thoughts, our attention, our habit) doesn’t stay hidden. It forms us, and what’s formed in us will always find its way out of us.

Into our words.

Into our homes.

Into the way we show up for others.

Jesus modeled this clearly:

Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, He got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where He prayed.

— Mark 1:35

Before the demands, He chose the Father.

Before the pressure, He chose presence.

…and that’s the invitation for us, too.

To be women who don’t just move through the day, but are rooted before it.

To be mindful of what we’re feeding ourselves, knowing it will become what we pour out.

Because overflow is never random.

It’s always the result of what we’ve allowed to fill us first.

Reflection Questions

What is currently filling me before my day begins?

Am I being intentional about time with the Father, or fitting Him in after everything else?

What has been flowing out of me lately, and what might that reveal about what I’ve been taking in? (Am I full of life or am I drained?)

Grace Challenge

Set aside intentional quiet time with the Father tomorrow morning (even if it’s just 10–15 minutes) No distractions, no rushing… even if you do nothing but take a few moments to open your heart and tell God thank you… Just be present, receive, and allow that to be what shapes what you carry into your day.
